From what I remember ... Amihan lives in a rural area with her father who works in the nearby mine for a living.
What Amihan could not understand was that instead of being sent to school like the other kids, her father educates her at home - and most of her lessons are in sword fighting.
Amihan later discovers that not only in her education is she different, but during one occassion that she felt scared, she just disappeared from the place.
Her father, upon learning this, realizes that her powers are starting to surface, so he decides to tell her about Encantadia.
The Tale: Once, Encantadia was in a state of peace. With the four jewels being tended to by the four kingdoms, there was balance in power.
The Hathorians, a who had the jewel of fire, are an ambitious people, and they wanted to control the whole of Encantadia. To upset the balance, they needed another jewel. Since the Adamyans, keepers of the jewel of water, are smaller in stature and do not excel in warfare, the Hathors decided they would first take their jewel.
Even with Sapiro, Adamya's neighbor, coming to its rescue, the Hathors still succeeded in taking the jewel of water, killing the Sapiryan king in the process. Before the Hathors could also take the jewel of earth, which the Sapiryan king wore, the king's cousin Raquim killed the Hathorian king. With the three jewels in his possession, and war just started, Raquim decided that the jewels are safest in the hands of the fairies, who live in Lireo and are keepers of the jewel of air.
And that, Amihan's father concludes, is how the four jewels came to be in the possession of the fairies.
Amihan thinks the tale was beautiful but doesn't believe it to be real. It hasn't even registered to her that the Raquim in the story is her father.
Her father had no chance to tell her more about Encantadia though, as Hathorians appeared, gleeful to have discovered the hiding place of Raquim, killer of their former king. Raquim gives his only sword to his daughter in order for her to protect herself, and dies in the hands of the Hathorians.
Amihan almost gets killed but the Hathorian king hesitates upon seeing the mark of the sanggre (royal blood) on her shoulder.
